Sisterhood at Temple Emanuel is exactly as the name implies – a community of women who enjoy spiritual, educational and social growth with Judaism as our common link. We are joined to a worldwide organization of Sisterhoods called Women of Reform Judaism, a federation of more than 600 Sisterhoods with 100,000 members throughout the United States, Canada, and overseas.  Click here for the WRJ Web Site.

Throughout the year, Sisterhood sponsors various events, which involve members of all ages and genders. Below is a listing of some of our traditional activities:

Educational Programming – e.g: History of Yiddish, Osteoporosis
Social Events: Culture Night, Movie Night, Progressive Dinner
Rosh Chodesh – a monthly celebration for our women
Religious School Assistance--e.g.: Rosh Hashanah, Chanukah,
    Purim, and Passover
Dinners – e.g. : Chanukah and Creative Sisterhood Shabbat Service
Shabbat Onegs – organize and hostess
Babysitting for the High Holy Days
Judaica Sales and Shop
Rummage Sales
Gifts for each Bar and Bar Mitzvah
Fall Membership Dinner

Although the price for joining Sisterhood at Temple Emanuel is $40 for Temple members and $54 for nonmembers, the experience is priceless. (Membership is complementary for all first year members of Temple Emanuel.) Sisterhood has monthly Board meetings –1st Tuesday of each month—where we plan our programs and build friendships while helping the temple; all Sisterhood members are welcome to attend. We invite everyone to join us at a meeting or event and experience our community of women – a collective presence and voice of women who give strength to strength.
